Sapphire technique
Sapphire implantation
The implantation is the most delicate of the intervention. Once treated and chosen by the practitioner, the extracted follicles are intended to be implanted in the scalp. The opening of the channels, housing future implants in the areas to be treated, is considered the most decisive step in hair transplantation.
The technique is called “Sapphire” because the graft is carried out using a Sapphire blade. In reality, the technique has been the same for several decades. Only the surgical material has changed. Initially, hair transplants were performed with the typical steel blade. The innovative use of this gemstone is well justified: the extremely fine cut surface leaves behind many more filigree channels than its less precise counterpart. While U-shaped channels are possible with the steel blade, Saphir FUE hair transplantation succeeds in creating V-shaped channels.
This allows the surgeon to make more openings on a smaller surface: this creates optimal density. The small incisions, which are at the same depth as the hair follicles, are at maximum proximity to each other. The hair surgeon will then reimplant each graft , one by one, into these micro-channels using specific tweezers. It is in this that the hair transplant is often qualified as a work of goldsmith, so much the gesture is meticulous.
Indeed, this technique allows a dense and tight hairy rehabilitation given the precision and maneuverability of this instrument, which even allows to choose the angle of implantation of each graft. The use of these precious and precise blades and materials, produces perfect incisions in the skin and allows to obtain a perfect angle for the location of the hair follicle.
The application of this technique considerably reduces the sensations of pain in the tissues and the scalp , and improves patient comfort during healing. Opening the channels with the Sapphire blade appeals to less vibration. This is due to the rigidity of the blades made of precious stone, and this minimizes the risk of tissue damage. It is important to emphasize that this method of hair transplantation is currently the technique that allows you to obtain the most density in a single intervention, but also the most widely accepted and widespread technique in the world. It is also the number 1 method in the country of hair transplantation : Turkey.
